Captain Scott Davies faced the local press this week ahead of Saturday’s game against Morecambe and outlined that the squad need to fight more than ever to get results.
“We were very disappointed on Tuesday, mainly at the manner of the way it happened, it was unacceptable and that cannot happen when you’re representing this football club.
“We have to make sure we come together now as a group and fight more than ever for a result on Saturday.
“Going forward, it’s a case of working hard and having trust in the process of what we’re doing. To play for this football club you need to have a certain type of mentality and knowledge of what is expected from you.
Despite the result on Tuesday, Scott is confident that things can change quickly in football and believes that a win this weekend can be the start of that.
“A week or a few days is a long time in football. Winning on Saturday would make it two wins in three and all of a sudden you’re looking forward again but for now we need to work hard and take ownership of our own performances.
“Morecambe are a club I look at fondly having grew up there as a player but going into Saturday, Tranmere is all that matters to me and we need a result on Saturday. It’s not that we want one, we need one and we’ll being going out to do that.
“It’s not about them, it’s about us. If we’re right mentally, nobody in this league phases me and if we stick to the plan set out by the manager then we’ll be fine. We need to apply ourselves and focus on ourselves going into Saturday.
“Football seasons aren’t won in the first ten games and you ride highs, you ride lows. We’ve got to use our experience now get through the situation that we’re in and trust the person next to you to be able to do that.”
