Jackson: We need to remember who we’re representing

30 October 2020

Manager Mike Jackson gave his thoughts going into this weekend’s game against Morecambe at Prenton Park and says that he has spoken to the squad about what it takes to represent Tranmere Rovers.

“We’ve always got to remember, and I’ve spoken to the team about this, who we represent and what this Club is all about. This Club is about fighting, grafting and working hard. You’ve always got to be mindful of that and I’ve said that to the players.

“I’ve told them what this Club means to the fans and representing them in the right way. On Tuesday night we didn’t do that and I’ll never hide away from the responsibilities of being manager of this football club.

“We’re hurting from Tuesday and sometimes you just need to take a step back to breathe and really focus on what we need to do moving forward but not for one minute do I take what happened on Tuesday lightly.”

Ahead of Saturday’s game, Jackson wants the focus to be more on ourselves rather than the opposition and wants to see a reaction from Tuesday night’s defeat.

“As always, we need to earn the right to play and get on the ball by winning first and second balls. It’s up to us to try and impose ourselves on the game.

“We know what Morecambe are about but we’re not focusing on them too much. It’s about us being in the right frame of mind and ready to react.
