Kip on the Kop and Kip of the couch 2020!

7 September 2020

Kip on the Kop is a fantastic annual event held at Prenton Park designed to raise awareness around homelessness and present an opportunity for people to find out what life is like for our region’s rough sleepers.

This year Wirral Ark have teamed up with the Paul Lavelle Foundation and Tranmere Rovers in the Community to bring together a very special event - Kip on the Kop.

Kip on the Kop

KOTK takes place on Friday 9th October at Prenton Park, home of Tranmere Rovers and is designed to raise funds and awareness around the plight of the homeless and vulnerable in the Merseyside area.

Participants will be encouraged to bring their sleeping bags and sleep out for night with friends and family on Prenton Park’s Kop. The last two KOTK’s have been fantastic events and have brought lots of people together – all dedicated to helping support the region’s rough sleepers.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will be a little different and will be organised with social distancing in place. We will also have hand sanitising stations as well as a raft of other health and safety measures to ensure our participants are well protected from risk.

Kip on the Couch

For those that can’t make the KOTK sleepout, we have arranged something very special for this year’s event – Kip on the Couch where participants will be encouraged to get involved at home.

Bed down with us for charity as we introduce the entirely unique (and very fun) ‘Kip on the Couch’ - like Kip on the Kop but all done from the comfort of your own home! Just pick a date to bed down for one night on your couch, floor or in your garden!

We will also be taking part and will have top Tranmere Rovers players, officials and board members taking part and covering their experiences via social media – we encourage you to do the same. Just make sure you tag us in and we’ll share your experiences to the social media channels of Wirral Ark, Paul Lavelle Foundation and Tranmere Rovers.

Event details

We’re hoping to raise awareness around the issues of homelessness and domestic abuse and we will also be hoping for vital funds to help us continue our work.

Places are limited so please register as soon as possible. Social distancing measures will be in place. Registration is just £10 per person with a sponsorship target of £50 per person, although we do ask that you raise as much as you can!  Participants provide their own warm clothing and sleeping bag.

Participants must be aged 18 or over and no alcohol or dogs will be permitted within the stadium. Fundraising packs download links & info will be sent out to participants once registered.

Please contact fundraising@wirralark.org.uk with any queries or for event partner sponsor opportunities.

Event coverage and fundraising

All charities involved in the event will be live streaming and posting throughout the night to show how the event is going and get the stories of the people involved in the sleepout. We will also be hoping to raise money through online and multi-media donations during the course of the event. Donation buttons will be posted on the night and in the lead up.

Also, our text donation facility is now live – Just text KOTK to 70085 to donate £5. Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give £5 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text KOTKNOINFO to 70085.
