Young TRIC participant an inspiration to her community

13 April 2021

A young Tranmere Rovers supporter has been making a crucial difference to her local community!

After finding out how littering has a negative impact on animals, ten-year-old Abi, went out of her way to purchase her own litter picker and she has been consistently removing two full bags of rubbish every single day.

A keen footballer, Abi plays for local team, Mersey Royals, and is a regular attendee of our WildCats Development Centre and has previously taken part in our Premier League Primary Stars and Kicks programmes.

Abi's mum was beaming with pride when speaking about her daughter's goodwill and achievement to help their community. She said: " Abi has always asked why people throw litter on the floor but I never thought she would take it upon herself to clean up after them.

"It was after she learnt the effects littering has on animals that really spurred her on. She came down one day after searching online for a litter picker and asked if she could buy one with her own money. Since then, she has been out nearly every day filling two bags with litter.

"She says If picking up 100 pieces of litter will save just one animal it’s worth it!

"She has been collecting litter around our local area but plans on hitting the local beaches to stop the litter from entering the sea.

"We’re so proud of Abi as this was all her idea and she is very passionate about it.

"She is an amazing inspiration to her little sister who is now also saving her pocket money to buy her own litter picker just like her big sister."

Well done to Abi! Keep up the good work and everyone from Tranmere Rovers Football Club is proud of you!
