Maynard's delight after agreeing Tranmere Rovers contract
31 August 2021
New Tranmere Rovers striker Nicky Maynard is excited to see how the 2021/22 season will unfold after signing on permanent terms at Prenton Park.
Maynard, who turned down teams in League One to sign for TRFC, explained why he opted to join Micky Mellon's side and his own expectations.
He said: "We have been speaking for a couple of weeks now. I trained with the lads for the first time today and I can't wait to get going as a Tranmere Rovers player.
"I have spoken to Micky a number of times in past few seasons. It was a no brainer to sign for this Club as soon as I knew there was interest.
"I am a goal scorer, and I would describe myself as a fox in the box. I like to get on the end of crosses, through balls and play on the shoulder. I am excited to see what happens this season.
"We have to work hard this season to achieve what we want to achieve. The squad we have got is very strong, and I can't see why we can't have a good season.
"As an opposition player, it has always been difficult playing at Prenton Park. There is never an easy game against Tranmere, and I am now happy I am a part of this team. I want to help make Prenton Park a fortress and push up the league table."
Nicky is available to sponsor for the 2021/22 season. For further information, please email debbieq@tranmererovers.co.uk.
