Tranmere Rovers Lottery proving popular with the SWA!

20 August 2021

Our last home match not only marked the start of the new football season – it also marked the first draw for the new Tranmere Rovers Lottery.

The draw was made on the pitch by our Chairman, Mark Palios, just before kick-off versus Walsall, and whilst no-one had chosen the four numbers for the £5,000 jackpot – 4,8,17 and 29 for our statisticians – and we did have two winners on the day:

Mark Lee Waters who has won £100 cash, and Alison O'Brien who has won a year's worth of lottery tickets!

We have since had the second draw last Saturday, and the chosen numbers for our jackpot were: 1, 9, 21 and 25.

Neil Pritchard was our lucky dip winner and has won £100 cash, and Jo Carr has won a year's worth of lottery tickets!

Our Associate Director, and now new Lottery Director, Martyn Best, has been asked about why we have launched this new lottery. “Our previous lottery was run under Everton in the Community for long standing historical reasons, and whilst it wasn't broken, the Chairman felt that we should review this, and like many other aspects of the Club over the last seven years, we would look to improve this area.

“We have therefore chosen to fully manage our own lottery now and are supported by a more advanced smartphone platform provided by ClubForce. This is however, 100% our own lottery for our own supporters, and with a significantly lower cost, meaning that more will be available for the Club to support the many fine causes within Tranmere Rovers in the Community, and across the Wirral.

“It also means that only people who enter our lottery will win, rather than being a part of a bigger lottery where Tranmere Rovers fans had a smaller chance of winning.

“We also took the decision to have a larger jackpot, starting at £5,000, which would rollover and increase by £100 if it wasn't claimed in any week.

“We also have a guaranteed lucky dip winner each week for £100 cash, and a year's supply of lottery tickets.

“To keep the fun element, we are also planning to have special lottery draws on special occasions such as Halloween and Christmas – and we are also open to ideas from our fans for any other special draws or themes.

“I do hope you will all join and play – it's only £1 per ticket per week – it's for your great football club and causes close to your heart – and as they say, 'you can't win it, if you're not in it!'”
