Tranmere Rovers partner with Her Game Too

2 August 2021

Tranmere Rovers Football Club are pleased to confirm a new partnership with #HerGameToo, a campaign which raises awareness of sexist abuse within football.

The campaign was launched in May 2021 and immediately received nationwide attention, and #HerGameToo was trending on Twitter in the build-up to Leicester City vs Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

Since the campaign's launch, #HerGameToo has surveyed over 400 female football fans to build a wider picture of the experiences they have faced when attending games, and it is clear from that work that many have had unacceptable experiences.

Although thankfully rare at Tranmere games, sexist abuse or harassment will not be tolerated when it happens, and by working closely with the #HerGameToo campaign we hope to send a message to all women thinking of coming to a match that we are committed to ensuring Prenton Park is a safe and welcoming environment for all supporters.

Nicola Palios said: "We pride ourselves on being an inclusive club and Tranmere fans are usually very quick to call out any problems, but we can't afford to be complacent.  We support #HerGameToo because it is a visible symbol statement to women and girls that we are committed to ensuring their attendance at matches will be safe and enjoyable."

Caz, from Her Game Too, added: “It's fantastic to see Tranmere Rovers FC become one of the first clubs to officially support our campaign and push for further equality within the game. We feel that it's important to collaborate with professional clubs in a bid to tackle the misogynistic culture surrounding football and we are looking forward to working with Tranmere Rovers to create a more inclusive atmosphere for all female supporters."
