Micky looks ahead to Orient clash

3 December 2021

Boss Micky Mellon spoke positively about the unexpected break the team was allowed recently after damage from Storm Arwen saw Rovers two most recent games postponed.

Mellon started his press conference by offering a brief injury update, revealing that defender Tom Davies has been suffering with a back injury, this the only concern ahead of Saturday's clash.

"Only Tom Davies who's struggling with a bit of a poor back, so we'll see how that goes tomorrow."

Mellon then explained the work that has been going on behind the scenes after the unexpected break in games, he spoke positively about the situation and believes that Rovers made the most of it.

"It's part and parcel, you've just got to make the best of the situation and so we did, we just got in did some training, rested the lads mentally and physically, as much as you can at this time of the season. We'll be ready to go again at the weekend, no excuses. We'll be good to go.

"You just make the most out of it. You be professional and you look for the opportunity to go and try work on something else and that's what it presented with and that's what we went and did.

"The poor weather went and we were able to get on the grass and continually try and work on things because at this time of the season it's difficult with midweek games to try and do that, but we had the opportunity to do that and we took that opportunity."

Mellon believes the gap between games has offered the players a physical and mental rest and an opportunity to get some good work done on the training ground, he feels that the team are in a good position to reap the rewards on Saturday and book their place in the third round of the FA Cup.

"It gave the players a physical and mental rest, which is important, we look for an opportunity to do that and we took that, we got some good work done on the grass, had some good meetings which we can do now because the players are fresh.

"We feel that we're best prepared now to go down and make a good fist of getting into the next round of the FA Cup."
