Rovers midfielder Jay Spearing spoke to the local press this week to preview the visit of Barrow AFC to Prenton Park on Boxing Day.
With a busy schedule over the Christmas period, Spearing insists that it is something he relishes.
“I’m a traditionalist. I think there would be a completely different feel around Christmas if there wasn’t football on. I look forward to Boxing Day and the Christmas period because you can gain a lot of points during that time.
“We’re in a good mood, a good place and looking forward to the game. We’re playing Saturday, Wednesday and Saturday so it’s not much different to a lot of weeks we go through during the season anyway."
With three games in the space of six days, Jay sees it as a great opportunity to kick on further up the league table.
“It’s a big week because if you can go and win two or three of those game, it can put you up a few positions in the league table and it can kick you on going into the new year.
“Our league form at the minute is ok. I know we’ve won a few on the bounce now but we don’t look back now, we need to keep looking forward and keeping the momentum going into this busy period.
“We’ve got fixtures that we can go and compete in, and ones that we’ll give our all in. If the atmosphere is anything like it was for our last home game then we’re in for a good afternoon but we know the teams we’re facing will be difficult and we’ve got to give everything we can if we’re going to come out with some positive results.”
