Tranmere Rovers in the Community host annual Christmas gathering for dementia group

17 December 2021

Tranmere Rovers in the Community hosted their annual Christmas gathering for their weekly Dementia Friendly Afternoon participants.

The event which took place at Prenton Park and allowed the weekly participants to enjoy special celebrations which included bingo, quizzes and food before taking a break before Christmas.

In association with the Tony Gahan memorial fund, Paul Raymond and Family sponsored the event and ensured that all of the group went home with a Christmas food hamper.

The donation will also allow Tranmere Rovers in the Community (TRIC) to continue the weekly sessions and also put on day trips for the group throughout 2022.

Speaking to Shirley Waring who runs the session at TRIC she said:

“It was fantastic to be able to host our annual Christmas gathering again this year.

“We spend two hours every week with this group so it’s special for us to celebrate Christmas with them especially after the tough year we’ve all had.

“I would also like to thank Paul Raymond and his family for their donation which enabled us to provide the group with a hamper this Christmas and continue our weekly sessions into 2022, we have some great things planned for the new year.”

Tranmere Rovers in the Community run their Dementia Friendly Afternoon session every Thursday 1.30pm-3pm. Open to anyone with dementia, their carers, friends and family, if you or anyone you know could benefit from the group please email ShirleyW@tranmererovers.co.uk
