After being unable to host our annual Super White Christmas Boxing Day event last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were delighted for it to return this year, welcoming over 40 adults.
The party was hosted in Tranmere Rovers Prentonian Suites and was open to adults who are suffering from loneliness, homelessness, and those in need of support over the Christmas Period.
Guests joined us for the afternoon and were able enjoy festivities including carol singing and bingo, with each person receiving a gift, a ticket to Tranmere Rovers’ fixture against Barrow AFC, and a hot meal provided by Cowsheds Catering and funded by the Club’s sponsor, Essar.
A representative from the Club’s charity partners, Wirral Ways to Recovery, said:
“Today is for people who don’t really have anywhere else to go, and for them to have a social gathering.
It’s vital [Tranmere] has these initiatives as it helps people who are lonely, feeling down, and out of social circles.
It’s even more vital at Christmas because it’s obviously family time for most people but some people don’t have the benefit of having a family and so they rely on services like Tranmere, especially Tranmere Rovers in the Community who help everyone on the Wirral.
For me it’s so important that places like Wirral Way’s to Recovery and Tranmere have a partnership and work together to help the guys and girls who I bring over, and when I do they feel part of Tranmere themselves, they know all the staff, Steve and his team - and everything works.
Tranmere Rovers in the Community offers support for all sorts of people and from all ages; they don’t just offer support to people in Birkenhead but right across the Wirral and they are a vital part of the community.”
Tranmere Rovers Football Club positively impacted hundreds of people's lives in Wirral through the Super White Christmas Appeal. We were able to host a Boxing Day party, a Carer Leavers meal on Christmas Day, two children’s parties, and delivered over 300 food hampers to families and those most affected by isolation.
We thank all of our supporters, those who have donated and as always our fans, without whom none of this would be possible.
