Crawford can't wait to get going as a Tranmere player

1 February 2021

Ali Crawford can’t wait to get going as a Tranmere Rovers player following his arrival at Prenton Park from fellow Sky Bet League Two side Bolton Wanderers on deadline day.

The attacking midfielder, 29, has signed a contract until the end of the season and is reunited with manager Keith Hill.

Crawford has made 24 appearances for the Trotters so far in this campaign, while he has also played for Doncaster Rovers and featured over 200 times for Hamilton Academical.

Having put pen to paper, Crawford is eyeing promotion from Sky Bet League Two with Rovers.

Crawford said: “I’m happy and delighted to be here. The Club has been doing well recently, they are flying up the table up near the top, and I hope I can help them reach promotion.

“It’s a massive Club and they have their aspirations to get promoted, and it’s something I want to help the Club achieve and get promoted at the end of the season.

“I’ve played quite a lot over the past couple of seasons, and having played half a season in this league, I know what is required at this Club and in this squad and in the last four or five weeks, you know that they have what it takes.

“I’m delighted to be joining, the team have been flying and picking up victories which has put them up towards the top of the table and four points off top spot, so promotion is the aim.

“I’m an attacking midfielder, I like to get on the ball and create and chip in with the odd goal and try to get some assists.

“If we keep going the way we are going, I don’t think we will be far away.”

Crawford is looking forward to playing his football for Hill again, and he feels that his relationship with the Rovers boss was a key factor.

He added: “Having played for him last season, I got on with him well, he knows me as a player and what I can bring to the Club, so hopefully I can go out on the pitch and show that.

“Playing for him last season, I know his expectations and what he wants you to do during the matches and the targets he wants you to hit, so I know all about that.”
