Rovers defender George Ray spoke to us following Saturday’s 3-1 away win at Leyton Orient which rounded off a successful week on the road for TRFC.
In a game of not many clear cut chances for either side, Ray was most pleased with the display by the Tranmere defence at the Breyer Group Stadium
“It’s another good win on the road. It was tough at times with a lot of defending and the opposition having the possession without really going anywhere with it but the defending we had to do, we did well.
“We tweaked it a bit at half time and the chances that we’ve had, we’ve taken them and we were clinical.
Ray has had to bide his time for his chance this season in the Rovers starting line up but has recently started in Keith Hill’s side and he says he is enjoying his football.
“I’m enjoying it. I’ve always worked hard and been professional off the pitch and now I’ve got my chance it’s good to be back playing.
“It’s great playing with Peter Clarke because he is always in the right position and telling you what to do because of the experience he’s got and the amount of games he’s played.
George was full of praise for forward James Vaughan following his assist for Rovers’ second goal of the afternoon when the striker put in an excellent tackle to win the ball back.
“Vaughany has bags of experience on the pitch and he’s always an out ball when we need it. He’s better than most centre halves in the air and we get a lot of goals from that with Kaiyne Woolery running off him”
“We can enjoy the win on the way home but there’s so many games coming up that you’re always focusing on the next one so we’ll enjoy this win whilst we can and then get ready for Tuesday”
