BARRIE MITCHELL - RIP

25 January 2021

We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of former Rovers player Barrie Mitchell who sadly passed away yesterday (24 Jan), aged 73, at his nursing home in Woodchurch.

Barrie, as a striker, made over 81 appearances and scored 10 goals for Rovers between 1973/74 and 1974/75, making his first team debut on 17 February 1974 away to Blackburn Rovers.

Barrie also appeared for Arbroath, Aberdeen and Dunfermline. Following his spell with Rovers, he then moved onto Preston North End, York City and Greenock Morton before retiring from football in 1978.

Renowned for his good and generous nature by those who knew him, including fans, Barrie will be sadly missed.
