Joe Maguire is excited to be a part of Micky Mellon’s side at Tranmere Rovers after he signed a one-year deal on Tuesday.
And it was Rovers’ ambitions which convinced Maguire to put pen to paper at Prenton Park.
He said said: “It’s the ambition and the squad that they are building. Obviously, they are going for promotion and that's the ambition I want to hear, so everything has been matched.
“As soon as I heard of the interest, I was excited to be here and it’s where I want to be, so I’m just looking forward to pre-season and some good games, and I’m looking forward to cracking on now.
“I knew Ian Dawes from the Liverpool connection, so he called me up and showed a bit of interest, so I was happy to speak and come and see the top facilities here, and I’m happy to be here.
“I want to be a part of this great ambition and it matches my ambition, so it suits me.
“League Two is tough to get out of, for a team, you need a squad of resilience and togetherness so hopefully I can add to that.
“Tranmere have always been a very tough side to play against, they are very well-connected formation wise and very solid,
“I’m a solid left-sided player, I like to get forward. At Accrington I was a left-wing back and at Crawley I was a left centre-back, so I’m quite versatile. “
Maguire is looking forward to playing in front of the SWA when the new season kicks-off.
He added: “When I’ve played away here, the fans have been right on our backs so I’m looking forward to having them with me this time around.”
He is available to sponsor now for the 2021/22 season, with player sponsorship packages available (business, fan and SWA2). For further information, and to sponsor our new left-back, please email@example.com.
