Team News

Calum MacDonald, Joe Maguire and Kieron Morris all missed Saturday’s game and will be assessed to see if they will feature against the Black Cats.

One to Watch

Aidan McGeady

At the age of 35, McGeady is showing no signs of slowing down as looks to be vital part of a promotion pushing Sunderland side next season.

With the experience of the Premier League and Champions League with Celtic, Spartak Moscow and Everton in his career, McGeady provides a constant threat at the Stadium of Light and is a definite fans favourite.

He has notched up over 100 appearances for his country Republic of Ireland at all levels.

Manager

Lee Johnson took the reigns at Sunderland last year but just missed out on promotion at the first attempt after suffering play off defeat to Lincoln.

At the age of 40 he is still relatively young for a manager but has got vast experience with the likes of Oldham Athletic, Barnsley and Bristol City.

With Championship experience under his belt and several cup giant killings against Liverpool and Manchester United, Sunderland will be hoping that Johnson can guide them back to the Championship
