TRIC and Tri-4-Life team up to raise more than £1,500 for Maggie's

2 July 2021

Tranmere Rovers in the Community and Tri-4-Life raised more than £1,500 for local charity, Maggies Cancer Support Centre.

A nine team Netball tournament was hosted on Saturday 26th June, and the competition was played in tribute and memory of Paula Roberts, who sadly passed away from cancer in September 2019.

Tranmere Rovers in the Community organised for nine teams to participate in the event, with participants of all ages and abilities playing their part on a special day at the Recreation Centre at Prenton Park.

Dolly Blacks were the tournament winners after a number of competitive matches, and the medals were provided by Capitol Solutions.

A charity shootout was also played on the day, with Tri-4-Life’s Pat Rice taking the accolade, and Rhys Hanlon was awarded the most improved player of the tournament.

More than 40 raffle prizes were donated from local businesses and individuals, and Tranmere Rovers provided the use of the Recreation Centre free of charge to ensure the tournament could take place.

Dave Roberts. Paula’s husband commented: “Paula would have been so proud that we have continued to raise money in her memory for such a wonderful charity, Maggies. They offer such worthwhile support to us all.
