Tranmere Rovers complete signing of defender Tom Davies

9 June 2021

Tranmere Rovers are pleased to announce the signing of defender Tom Davies on a one-year contract.

The 29-year-old centre back, who has tasted promotion from League Two with both Portsmouth and Coventry City, is Micky Mellon’s first signing since re-joining the Club as first team manager, and Davies will officially join on 1st July.

Speaking about his new recruit, Mellon said: “I am really pleased to bring him in, he has got all the attributes that I want, and Tranmere are going to need.

“He has got good experience, good know how of the possession and the way we believe we need to play; he is able to do that very well.

“It is a great beginning for us as we begin to rebuild our entire squad.

“Tom has won promotions from this level but also he has played for clubs that have the demands that we have on players.

“When you do your recruitment, you need to ask if they can handle the demands of playing for Tranmere as the expectations are quite rightly very high. Tom will be able to handle that, and he will bring great experience to that area of the pitch which I certainly need.

“He wants to come here and be successful with us which is important. We have chased him for a while and we have finally managed to get him into the building, so we are really pleased. I am sure the Tranmere fans will be pleased we have brought such a good player to the Club.”
