Jay Spearing was pleased with Tranmere Rovers’ performance in their victory at Southend on Tuesday night.
Rovers returned to winning ways in Sky Bet League Two at Roots Hall with first-half goals from Paul Lewis and George Ray sealing three points against the Shrimpers.
And TRFC midfielder Spearing had his say after a “massive win” on the road.
Spearing said: “It was a massive win, and it was a superb reaction from Saturday, and we responded, and we’ve come a long way and the lads knew what we had to do, we were prepared, and I think from the first whistle, it was a dominant performance.
“We’ve got 14 cup finals to have a right good go at, and like I said to the boys before the game, the place and position that we are in doesn’t come round very often for people in their careers so don’t let it go.
“From an all-round team performance, the whole squad were superb, and it was back to what we are.
“The way we started the game, we were on the front foot and we dominated the ball and passed it and that’s the team that we are, and now that’s done, and it makes the journey home a lot better.”
