Keith Hill looks ahead to Stags test

25 March 2021

Keith Hill spoke to the media ahead of this weekend's league match at home to Mansfield Town.

Rovers return to their home ground, as Nigel Clough’s Stags visit the Wirral in Sky Bet League Two this weekend.

Hill previewed the fixture, and he feels that while it will be a tough game, the boss has confidence in his squad’s ability.

Hill said: “Mansfield are a very good side and I know Nigel really well. They are in a position where they are playing free from any type of pressure, they play real expressive football, there is a freedom, and they will be difficult opponents.

“They are an excellent side in the making and they are very attack minded, and they are playing free of any pressure, we’re looking at the way that they are playing.

“We are in good form, irrespective whether it’s home or away, over a period of time and we expect that to remain with the calibre of players that we have got, and the DNA of the players and we are looking forward to representing our supporters at home, even though we know they are not there, they are giving us the support in our pursuit of promotion.

“We are really privileged to be able to do our jobs in the manner that we can, to try and bring success and we want to represent the supporters.

“You want to try and represent your best values to try and get as many points as you can. The last 10 games of the season are the real business end, there’s pressure but in an ideal world this is a good as it gets as we’re in a situation of success where we can be more successful, so we are asking the lads to enjoy it and play within in a framework, but within that framework there has to be flexibility.

“I trust the players going into the last 10 games of the season and  have a tried and tested squad of players, we are strong anyway, regardless of what team I select we’re strong enough to get points from games.

“They are all brilliant games to be involved in for our pursuit to get promoted, and we are being brave in order to try and get promoted.”
