Keith Hill on Southend test

8 March 2021

Keith Hill gave his thoughts before Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League Two fixture away at Southend United.

Tranmere make the long journey down to Roots Hall for the game against Mark Molesley’s Shrimpers.

And Hill gave his pre-match thoughts, with TRFC returning to action in Essex.

Hill said: “We’re looking forward to the game, we’ll play the game in isolation and prepare to win every football match during the course of the week, and Southend is no different.

“Over the course of the 46 games it’s important that we prepare our team right, whether we’re against the top or bottom of the league, we want to compete for Tranmere.

“There’s a lot of details to go into preparing a team and executing a game plan with confidence against the opponents, and we’ll go into Tuesday’s game against Southend.

“You can’t look at games too emotionally and how things played out, so we’re encouraged with the way that we are performing, and we are encouraged that since the turn of the year, we are performing in every competition and in the league over the last 22 games we are averaging two points a game, and we need continuity.”

He added: “We’re positive and looking forward to the future. We’re excited about the opportunities that we have created by the hard work that we have done.

“Everybody is fighting in this league, we are a team that oppositions raise their standards for but that means that we have to raise our standards, but our standards are high anyway.

“We are going into this game full of confidence and we deserve it. There has been a great response from the group.”
