O'Connor: We are taking it a game at a time

4 March 2021

Lee O’Connor hopes that Tranmere Rovers can keep their current run of form going, heading into Saturday’s game against Crawley Town at Prenton Park.

Rovers have earned three straight wins to move level on points with the top three of Sky Bet League Two and could potentially climb to the summit of the division if results go in their favour.

Keith Hill’s men have secured victories over Carlisle United, Leyton Orient and most recently, Newport County on Tuesday night.

And with confidence high, full-back O’Connor is looking forward to the fixture this weekend.

O’Connor said: “We’ve got a brilliant squad and it’s quite good for us, so hopefully we can keep this run of form going.

“It’s game after game, and that’s what everyone is looking forward to at the weekend, to have as many games, obviously it’s tough but it’s something to look forward to as well.

“Three points are the most important thing, we have been scoring a lot of goals at the moment but it is important that the whole team is accustomed to getting clean sheets.

“It’s taking every game as it comes and it’s trying to get three points out of every game that we play, but anyone can beat anyone in this league.

“We’re all a very close-knit group, and I think that was important and the manager looked at that, but first and foremost it’s about what we do on the field, but we are a very together group and that has helped us through so far.”

O’Connor, 20, is currently on loan at Rovers from Celtic, and he is “loving” his time on the Wirral.

He added: “I’m loving it so far. I’m getting games and we’re up near the top of the table where we want to be, and it’s been fantastic so hopefully we can keep it going until the end of the season.

“When you’re going out on loan you want to be playing games and up near the top of the table and that’s what we are doing, and I’m really enjoying my football at the minute.”
