Tranmere Rovers are teaming up with the Firefighters Charity to take part in a "sit in every seat challenge" at Prenton Park on 18th June 2021. The event aims to raise vital funds to support the ongoing work of both the Fire Fighters Charity and Tranmere Rovers in the Community.
The team completing the challenge will be representatives of Merseyside Fire and Rescue, The Firefighters Charity and the Tranmere Team of Commercial Manager Debbie Quaile who is also a trained Firefighter.
Debbie said: "During the Pandemic, both Tranmere Rovers and the Fire Service adapted their working practices to focus on supporting their communities.
"Although I continued in my role as Commercial Manager at Tranmere Rovers, I was encouraged to assist the Fire and Rescue services response and re-joined Cheshire Fire and Rescue service Resilience team on a retained basis. The remit of our Resilience team was to supplement staffing shortfalls, assist the organisations operational response and support the NHS by becoming trained vaccinators for the mass vaccination site at Chester Racecourse that also served the residents of the Wirral.
"Seeing the positive response of both the Fire Service and Tranmere Rovers towards the Pandemic has been a very humbling experience.
"The work of both has been integral in the national response in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of our communities. Having been a beneficiary of the Fire Fighters charity fantastic facilities, to treat a serious injury from football and PTSD it seems only right to do something positive and give something back to both.
"The event provides an opportunity for the Football & Fire families to combine and support two great causes."
Alan Knell from the Fire Fighters Charity said: “The Fire Fighters Charity are delighted to be teaming up with Tranmere Rovers on this fantastic challenge event.
"The firefighters of Merseyside Fire and Rescue are looking forward to the challenge of covering the seats in Prenton Park, to raise vital funds for their local community and supporting The Fire Fighters Charity.
"It’s been a very challenging year for The Fire Fighters Charity, with a huge drop of fundraising income, alongside our fire community having played a huge part with the pandemic response. So it’s more important than ever to ensure that we can offer full support to the fire family in their physical and mental health. I’m sure the football family and SWA will play a huge part in the day too with fantastic show of support like they always do.”
On the day of the event we will be giving out some prizes. Tranmere fans should keep an eye out on our social media channels to see if we sit in your seat!
