For the first time in what seems an eternity, the SWA can prepare for Friday night football at Prenton Park when Colchester United on the 8th October, 7:45pm kick-off.

Micky Mellon’s men have won four of their five home league games this season, and we need the SWA to once again Pack the Park for this Friday’s game versus the U’s as we look to secure another three points!

Tickets are now available to purchase via, and a reminder, if you purchase advance, the cost is cheaper than buying a ticket on the night!

So, why not prepare for your weekend in the right way, by experiencing a famous Friday night fixture at Prenton Park and cheer Tranmere on.

“I really love the unique atmosphere Friday night football brings and they have always been special nights at Tranmere Rovers,” admitted Mellon.

“We want to start the weekend with a great game of football after a hard-working week. We want to contribute and make it a good weekend for everyone with a win,

“The SWA always play a huge role and they will need to do again. The unique atmosphere a Friday night fixture at Prenton Park creates is massive, and it is something that the players should embrace and enjoy. We are looking forward to the game.”

Chairman and former Tranmere Rovers player, Mark Palios, also has fond memories of representing the Club on a Friday evening.

He added: “We can’t wait to welcome Friday night football back to Prenton Park.

“We have a strong tradition of playing on Friday evenings and we have created some famous and memorable moments down the years.

“I always remember playing for Tranmere on a Friday night, and there was always a special atmosphere creating by the Super White Army, and as the saying goes, Friday night is Prenton Night.

“Sadly, we can’t host matches on a Friday night as often as we were once able to, but when the opportunity comes around, it is always a great occasion.

“Hopefully we will see a big crowd for the game against Colchester and it is a chance for families to get down to Prenton Park with their children to enjoy what should be a great game under the floodlights.

“With an international football weekend, it is a great opportunity for the entire of Merseyside to come and enjoy live affordable football.”
