Davies delighted with three points

4 September 2021

Tom Davies says that his late winner against Hartlepool was a great feeling, as Tranmere Rovers recorded a 1-0 win over Dave Challinor’s side.

Davies’ 88th minute header ensured all three points for Rovers, as Micky Mellon’s side returned to winning ways in front of the Prenton Park support.

He said: “It was a great feeling. It’s a team game, we’ve all got to chip in with them. It was nice to get on the end, great ball in from Josh. A nice feeling.

“We tried hard to score, and it was a good match-up. They’re a good team, a good outfit, and all we needed was that one moment. It turned the game. Nice that we’re on the right end of it for once! We need to build momentum now, and go again next week.”

The defender played as part of the back three on Saturday, and Davies says that the team have a chance of getting all three points regardless of who starts.

“I want to play, but I’m sure the other two do as well. Whatever team is out there, we’ve got a chance of winning.

“It’s nice today to make sure we come away with the three points.”

The winner from Davies ended Rovers’ goal-shy run in the league, and the 29-year-old says the entire squad can help to chip in with goals.

“We’ve been working hard on the training pitch, and it’s a squad game. We all know we’ve all got to chip in.

“You do feel the pressure, you feel the fans getting on top of you a little bit. We want to do well for them, because we know how well they support us. It’s nice to give them that today, and hopefully we can do that throughout the season.”
