Dacres-Cogley looking to bounce back at Prenton Park

1 April 2022

Full-back Josh Dacres-Cogley expressed his confidence that Rovers can pick up a crucial three points against Carlisle United on Saturday.

Josh spoke about how confident he is playing matches at Prenton Park.

“I’m confident in the team that we can go and get the job done. Our home record is quite good so we are more confident playing at home. It’s a positive that we are at home next and we can try and rectify Saturday.”

He also mentioned how important it is to move on from the frustrating defeat away at Colchester United last weekend.

“You could sense it in the changing room afterwards that it was a tough one to take, but that’s football sometimes. It’s about how well you bounce back from that and go into the next game with a positive attitude to go and get the three points off them.”

Despite the disappointing result, Josh was encouraged by how Rovers played last Saturday.

“I think we played well for large moments of the game. There were some decisions that went against us but that’s football, sometimes you get them, sometimes you don’t. I think we have to be more clinical in front of goal. We could have put the game to bed in the first half if we had taken some of the chances we had, but that’s football.”

Looking ahead to Saturday, Josh is calling for Rovers to be more clinical infront of goal.

“It’s going to be a good test for us, it’s not going to be easy. We will have to fight, work hard and be good with the ball like we were against Colchester. We also need to be clinical. More often than not, if we score first, we are confident that we can get the job done.”

Josh ended the interview by talking about how he has managed to stay fit throughout the campaign.

“It’s a massive part of football nowadays, making sure you look after yourself off the pitch and making sure you do all your stretches. I’ve always been a player that does that on and off the pitch, regardless of whether I’m playing or not. I think that has put me in good stead to do a season of playing games and training so, touch wood, I can stay fit.”
