Micky's thoughts ahead of Oldham

29 April 2022

Rovers boss Micky Mellon told the press that the squad have been working on creating the intensity levels that are needed ahead of the penultimate game of the season with Oldham Athletic making the trip to Prenton Park.

Micky started his interview by offering an encouraging injury update ahead of the game.

"We've got the suspended lads back in the squad. Tom Davies is available again, we'll lose Callum McManaman with concussion, Joe Murphy is back in the squad again, he's trained today and yesterday so he's back in the group.

"(We're) back towards a full quota again."

With two games remaining Rovers sit four points adrift from the playoff positions and will have to rely on results to go their way if they're to make the top 7, the Gaffer admitted that it's out of their hands and the squad can only focus on taking care of their own business for the remaining games.

"We can't do nothing about it, all I can do is try and educate the players on what is needed in games of football from the weekend and previous game move on and practice that during the week, speak to them, show them DVD's, do it on the grass and try and create that intensity that's needed so that they're used to that.

"Then when they hit the ground on a Saturday afternoon or a Tuesday evening they're used to the intensity that we should work at and that's what we'll continue to do, we did it all week and we'll expect to do it on Saturday.

"We'll try and take care of business and we'll just keep going as that's what you're expected to do and that's what we'll continue to do.
