Tranmere Rovers Women travel to Manchester on the hunt to continue their unbeaten start to the season as they took on West Didsbury & Chorlton at the Step Place Stadium.
The opening stages of the game were a fairly even battle with both sides starting off strong.
It was Rovers who came closest after a Chlo Robinson free kick meets Anya McCready's head but the forward couldn’t quite test the keeper.
With just 25 minutes on the clock, Rovers opened the scoring after a fantastic counterattack from a West Didsbury corner saw Liz Roberts carry the ball up the field finding Laura Pennington in the box, who calmly slots past the keeper giving Rovers the lead.
The home side battled for an equaliser applying plenty of pressure to the Tranmere side but Maddock’s and her back four controlled the game well.
Moments before the halftime whistle blew West equalised after being awarded a free kick outside the area which was unstoppable for the Rovers keeper.
Tranmere started the second half strong with Ellie Doyle coming close to restoring the lead after testing the keeper from outside but she collects.
Applying plenty of pressure on the home side Rovers continued to threaten with consecutive crosses from Laura Pennington finding a Tranmere player in the box but they couldn't quote convert to take the lead.
Despite Katy Maddock's making a fantastic save after finding herself one on one with the WDC forward, the rebound found the back of the net meaning Tranmere trail for the first time in the game.
After a challenge in midfield Rachel Unsworth lands awkwardly forcing a change to the Rovers line up and the introduction of Melissa Von Bargen.
Since entering the field, Rachel Davidson causes the home side plenty of problems with her pace upfront and comes close to equalising after finding herself on the end of a McCready cross but her efforts is just the wrong side of the post.
Davidson's efforts pay off after a through ball from Pennington she beats her man and beautifully slots it past the keeper putting Rovers back level with 10 minutes remaining.
Tranmere looked like they would take the lead after a fantastic bit of play from the midfield released Roberts on the left and with two Rovers players in the box it looked promising but the home side managed to clear their line.
Despite applying plenty of pressure to get the winner the ref blows for full time and Tranmere take a point back to Wirral but still remain unbeaten after three games.
