Tranmere Rovers Women 0-2 West Didsbury & Chorlton

12 December 2022

Tranmere Rovers Women fell to defeat on home soil on Sunday afternoon to the hands of West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Rovers dominated the opening stages of the game creating several chances through Laura Pennington and Elisha Price but were unable to convert.

After not taking advantage of their domination Tranmere found themselves one nill down after the visitors were awarded a penalty that Taylor Gunn stepped up and slotted past Katy Maddock despite her getting fingertips on it.

Being on the front foot, West Didsbury doubled their lead through Taylor Gunn with her second of the game who converted a rebound after Maddock saved a one on one with the number 15.

Rovers looked to respond through Bethan Woolley who hit the woodwork twice in 5 minutes with two long range efforts.

Tranmere started the second half brighter and went close again through Woolley whose long range effort was tipped over for a corner before Pennington hit the side netting moments later.

West Didsbury tried for a third on the counter after a Rovers corner, but Cloe Robinson was on hand to cover and clear her lines.

Tranmere had one last chance before the final whistle when captain Lindsey Smith’s freekick was parried into the path of substitute Hollie Evans, but her effort hit the post.

Up Next for the women’s team is Mossley Hill Ladies away in the North West Women’s Regional League on the 18th December at the Mossley Hill Athletic club 2pm Kick off.
