Lee O'Connor nominated for League Two Player of the Month

8 February 2022

Lee O’Connor has been nominated for January’s Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award.

The 21-year-old racked up five appearances during last month, helping the team to three clean sheets in the process.

Victories against Scunthorpe United, Rochdale and Crawley Town were secured without reply, meanwhile Rovers also picked up a valuable point away to Salford City.

January also saw O’Connor turn his loan spell at the Club into a permanent transfer, signing from Celtic on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Listed below are the three other players competing for the Player of the Month award alongside the Republic of Ireland international.

Luke McGee (Forest Green Rovers):

An influential member of Rob Edwards’ side, the 26-year-old goalkeeper registered a total of five clean sheets in six League Two outings.

The only side to breach McGee during the month of January were Northampton Town.

Harry McKirdy (Swindon Town):

McKirdy kicked off the opening month of 2022 in impressive style, scoring four goals in a 5-2 home win over Northampton on New Year’s Day.

The 24-year-old forward followed this up with a further two goals and two assists in four matches.

Dominic Telford (Newport County):

The current League Two top-scorer bagged a total of three braces in January, with doubles against Walsall, Harrogate and Barrow taking his goalscoring tally of the League Two season to 20.
