Match Preview: Hartlepool United

14 February 2022

Rovers look to bounce back from a disappointing result at the weekend with a midweek trip to Hartlepool in Sky Bet League Two.

It’s a quick turnaround from the defeat at the Banks’ stadium, but an opportunity to get back to winning ways and extend the gap between the automatic promotion spots and the teams chasing.

Hartlepool come into the clash off the back of an away win against Crawley Town thanks to a goal from Omar Bogle.

It’s Hartlepool’s fifth game in Sky Bet League Two without defeat and Graeme Lee will be hoping his side can extend the unbeaten run in midweek.

Team News:

Paul Glatzel will be missing for the next few weeks with an injury picked up against Swindon Town. Jay Spearing remains sidelined too.

One to Watch: Omar Bogle

Since joining the club in January from League One side Doncaster Rovers, Bogle has hit the ground running with two goals in his first three games including the winner last time out against Crawley.

After rising through the steps of non-league, he joined Grimsby Town where he became a prolific striker within the EFL, scoring nearly a goal every two games during his two years at Grimsby.

He signed for Cardiff City for a decent sized fee and was loaned out a number of times across England and even a stint aboard, featuring for Ado Den Haag.

Since leaving Doncaster in January, Bogle seems to be back scoring goals, at least in the early stages of playing for his new club and he will look to continue his form on Tuesday night.

Manager: Graeme Lee

Born in the North-East in Middlesbrough, Graeme Lee spent eight years at Hartlepool as a player whilst making over 200 appearances for the pools.

He then featured for a number of teams including Doncaster, Sheffield Wednesday and Notts County whilst also returning on loan to Hartlepool in 2008.

He became Middlesbrough under 23’s coach in 2019 in a role which lasted two seasons before he became Hartlepool manager in December 2021.

Since joining the club, Hartlepool have only lost three games which is a hugely impressive record and something the manager will be looking to continue.
