Lewis Warrington signs on loan from Everton

31 January 2022

Tranmere Rovers are pleased to announce that talented young midfielder Lewis Warrington has joined on loan from Everton for the remainder of the season.

The Birkenhead-born 19 year old has impressed for Everton U23s this season, playing 13 times in Premier League 2 and making three appearances in the EFL Trophy for the Toffees. Tranmere fought off interest from League One clubs to secure his services.

The highly rated midfielder becomes our sixth signing of the January transfer window and represents another step forward in the Club's strategy of developing players and establishing good links with clubs that can provide quality players that fit the Club's style of play.

Micky Mellon said: “I’m delighted to bring Lewis in. He’ll compliment what we already have in the midfield.

“It’s good to have that other midfield player in there to give us something a little bit different. He’ll give us a bit of variety and quality and he’s someone we’ve watched for a long time”

“It’s great to be able to have these relationships with these other clubs. We must be one of the only clubs with players on loan from Celtic, Rangers, Liverpool and Everton”

“Lewis is very highly rated and a very talented lad. Now we need to help him establish himself using the qualities that he’s got to help us get results.”
