Tranmere Rovers Academy and Calday Grammar School to launch new partnership

10 June 2022

Tranmere Rovers is delighted to announce it will be broadening its curriculum offer to include A Levels from September 2022 working in partnership with Calday Grange Grammar School.

Students will be able to access and study a range of subject areas at one of the leading 6th Forms in Wirral. The programme will combine academic and football excellence and provides a unique opportunity for post-16 students to continue with their education and football development.

Calday Grammar Head Teacher, Mr Gray, said:

"The school is delighted to be part of this partnership with Tranmere Rovers FC. There are already close links between the two organisations and this arrangement embeds these links further. It is centred around providing more bespoke opportunities for young people in the local area, which is one of our core aims, and I look forward to seeing it develop."

Students enrolled on the programme will benefit from the finest facilities in the region, excellent pastoral care, expert tuition both in the classroom and on the pitch. The football element of the provision will be delivered at Tranmere Rovers first-team Campus, providing students with a unique insight into the daily life of a professional footballer. On a weekly basis, students will access technical and tactical training sessions, cup and league games programme, strength and conditioning classes, performance analysis, diet and nutrition advice.

Speaking on the partnership chairman, Mark Palios, said:

“For several years we have worked increasingly with Calday Grammar, and this is an extension of our partnership.

At Tranmere Rovers we offer the students a unique opportunity to continue their education alongside their football development at the heart of the workings of a professional football club.”

Head of Education, Carl Giles commented:

“It is fantastic news that TRFC Academy will be working in partnership with Calday Grammar to offer a bespoke A Level and football development programme. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the senior management at the school for their willingness to turn the initial concept into a reality for September 2022. At every step of the way, the focus has always been on enhancing the opportunities available for young people within our communities”
