Tranmere Rovers in the Community have been working with Merseyside Police in visiting local primary schools to deliver thought-provoking workshops to help challenge young people’s preconceptions and raise awareness of child criminal exploitation.
The latest workshop saw TRIC travel to Riverside Primary School last Friday, working with seven Key Stage Two pupils who engaged excellently in discussions and role play scenarios.
The workshops tie in with TRIC’s six after-school sport sessions, offering a positive alternative to antisocial behaviour with fun and engaging sessions delivered by our community staff who act as mentors, keeping them safe from negative influences from outside of school and helping with their overall wellbeing.
There is also delivery from our education lead who offers classroom support covering age-appropriate themes such as peer pressure, grooming and child criminal exploitation.
Mr Walsh, KS2 teacher at Riverside Primary School in Wallasey, said: “The feedback from the staff was that it was excellent - appropriate to the needs of the children and presented in a thoughtful and sensitive way.”
Tom Rowlands, Project Manager at TRIC, said: "I'm delighted that the children engaged so well with the workshop at Riverside Primary School. We will be delivering workshops like this to children in primary schools across Wirral, and are happy to be working with Merseyside Police on the project. Hopefully the workshops will make a difference and help ensure that these children choose the right path in life."
