Josh Hawkes gave us his thoughts ahead of this weekend’s trip to the Capital to face Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road, a no doubt tough test against the division’s leaders.
After getting his first league goal of the season on Saturday, Josh says that he is looking to push on now and continue to make an impact.
“My main personal goal this year was to get more goal involvements. Last year I got a few but I want more this year. I’ve had to be patient, I’ve been out the team for a few games so it was good get back in the team and stamp by authority.
After a period out of the starting line up, Josh admits that it might have been something that will serve him well in the long run.
“I think sometimes you need to take a step back from it and have a think about what you’ve been doing well and what you need to improve on. I think I needed a spell out of the team to realise what I needed to work on and hopefully I can just keep doing that now.”
High flying Leyton Orient are the next test up for Rovers but Hawkes says that Tranmere can be match for anyone in the league.
“They’ve been doing really well so it will be a tough game no matter when you play them. On our day we’re a match for any team in this league so we just need to go there and be confident to hopefully get the win.
“It would be a massive boost to get the win and it could be a good gauge of where we’re at. If we go there and win off the back of last week’s home win, it will be great.”
