Simeu: The goals we gave away were cheap

14 September 2022

Defender Dynel Simue believes that the goals Rovers gave away on Tuesday night were cheap, as they were beaten by Bradford City at Prenton Park.

Speaking after his first start for the SWA, Dynel offered his summary on the game, expressing his frustration at how the game got away from Rovers.

"I feel it was a tough game. The boys are disappointed because I feel like the goals we gave away were cheap, letting them score from a set piece early on kind of killed us.

"I thought the boys didn't lack fight, I thought they showed hunger. We kept at it, we came out strong in the second half, I feel like the tempo was high.

"Getting the equaliser, I felt like we were on top of them so it's quite frustrating to let them score so late on when we felt like we had the game in our hands. We gave it away."

Two goals from ex-Rovers striker Andy Cook were enough to condemn the SWA to defeat, Dynel believes that the squad were naïve with the goals and didn't do enough to combat the threat Cook carries.

"It's always an uphill battle, it's always tough when you concede so early on, so obviously that wasn't ideal. But, like I said, I thought the boys dug in, credit to the boys, I thought they showed fight all the way to the last minute.

"I just think we were naïve with the goals, the second goal that's Andy Cook summed up, we knew about him before the game and I don't think we've done the best with the goals. It's a shame."
