Tranmere Rovers Women take a point home after coming back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Blackburn Women Community Club.
Second half goals from Elisha Price and Lindsey Smith secured a hard earned point for Rovers on Sunday afternoon.
A sluggish start to the game saw Blackburn take an early lead after Rovers lost possession and the home side pounced onto the loose ball and looped Maddock who was off her line.
The hosts doubled their lead shortly after, again picking up possession and a beautifully hit ball flew into the top corner.
Rovers were forced into an early first half substitution after a collision with the Blackburn winger saw Liz Roberts come off injured and replaced by Jess Durr.
Blackburn looked to add to their lead on the counter attack and their centre forward was clear through on goal but Maddock was off her line to clear away the danger.
Despite being two goals behind Tranmere started the second half on the front foot with a flurry of attacks.
It didn’t take long for the hard work to pay off after Elisha Price headed home a corner from Katie Bowers Folan.
Continuing with their momentum Rovers were awarded another corner after Bowers Folan cut into the box but her shot was narrowly deflected. This time Lindsey Smith found herself on the end of a Bowers Folan corner when she netted the ball into the bottom corner making it impossible for the keeper to get to.
Now level Tranmere tried to grab a winner with a number of chances created but couldn’t quite find the back of the net.
A dominate second half meant Rovers took home a well earned point.
Next up for Tranmere Rovers Women is FC United on Thursday 20th April, 7.15pm kick off at Vauxhalls Sports Club.
