Tranmere Rovers 2-1 Crewe Alexandra

25 August 2023

Tranmere Rovers Women continued their winning streak on Thursday evening, securing a triumphant 2-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra.

Right from the kickoff, Izzy Arrowsmith displayed her intent, pressuring Crewe's defence as she chased down a loose ball directed back towards Holloway, who fortunately managed to avert the danger.

Maintaining control over the game, Rovers relentlessly pushed for an opening goal, with both McCready and Doyle attempting shots that the visiting goalkeeper skillfully saved.

The breakthrough finally arrived courtesy of McCready, who expertly maneuvered the ball from the left, cutting inside and elegantly curling it into the corner of the net, propelling Tranmere into the lead.

However, Tranmere's advantage was short-lived, as Crewe were awarded a penalty right after kick off, which was confidently converted by Fallon.

The second half saw Tranmere launching a barrage of attacks, but Holloway's adept goalkeeping skills prevented them from finding the net.

Bowers Folan played a pivotal role in generating yet another Rovers' offensive move, orchestrating from the midfield before surging forward and delivering a perfectly placed cross into the box, where Arrowsmith was strategically positioned to slot it home.

As the game neared its conclusion, the collective defensive prowess of the entire team ensured the preservation of their lead, securing another vital three points for Tranmere in their league campaign on home turf.

Looking ahead, the next challenge for Tranmere Rovers Women will take them to the Tameside Stadium in Manchester, where they will face Cursor Ashton. The match is scheduled for a 2pm kickoff.
