Tranmere Rovers travel to Macclesfield on Tuesday 5th December (7.45pm kick-off), in the second round of the Cheshire Senior Cup.
Rovers will face the Silkmen at the Leasing.com Stadium, after a 2-0 victory over Stockport County in the first round.
Goals from Harvey Saunders and Rob Apter sealed that victory at Edgeley Park in September, while our opposition overcame Sandbach United on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
Macclesfield are 4th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, three divisions below League Two.
They won promotion from the eighth tier last season, led by current Rovers assistant manager Neil Danns.
Last time out:
Manager: Alex Bruce
Former Premier League defender Alex Bruce is in his first managerial role at Macclesfield, the club he ended his playing career at in 2022.
The ex-Northern Ireland international played for a vast array of English sides, including the likes of Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Birmingham City, from whom he had a brief spell on loan at Tranmere in 2005.
Bruce will, perhaps, be best known to supporters for his time at Hull City. Playing under his father Steve, he twice won promotion to the Premier League with the Tigers and reached the 2014 FA Cup final, losing 3-2 to Arsenal after extra time.
The 39-year-old took on the Silkmen job in October of this year, and his side currently sit in the Northern Premier League Premier Division Play-Off places.
One to watch: Oumar Niasse
The Silkmen recently announced the signing of ex-Everton striker Oumar Niasse on a short-term contract.
The Senegalese forward made 65 Premier League appearances for the Toffees from 2016-2020, scoring 12 goals.
Before his time on Merseyside, the 33-year-old had a spell in the Turkish top flight, and has since gone on to play for several English sides in the Championship and League One.
