Tranmere Rovers club chaplain Matt Graham recently ran the Snowdonia Marathon to raise money for Tranmere Rovers in the Community and Dementia Together Wirral, and has spoken to us about the benefits of our dementia-friendly afternoon.
Matt visits our dementia-friendly afternoon each Thursday, where people suffering with dementia and their carers can come along for a cup of tea or coffee, a chat, and some games.
He chose TRIC as one of his nominated charities, with the money to go towards offering even more positive experiences for the people who come along to the dementia-friendly afternoon.
Matt said: “Every time I come every Thursday afternoon, I just think the work that TRIC are doing here, I know that there’s other activities that go on as well, I just thought it was fantastic.
“Anything I could do to help it keep going by raising a bit of money, and raising a little bit of awareness as well particularly around dementia, I thought that was a real privilege to be able to do that.
“I just think the support that this weekly afternoon offers to those suffering with dementia but especially to those who are caring for them, who day in, day out, care for their loved ones with a really horrible illness, I just think it’s brilliant, so wanted to support that.”
