Nigel Adkins to switch on Carr Farm Christmas lights tonight!

8 December 2023

Tranmere Rovers manager Nigel Adkins will perform the Christmas light switch on at Carr Farm, Meols, on Friday 8th December from 5.30pm.

It is part of the The Martin Gallier Project's much-loved Christmas remembrance event, A Forget Me Not Christmas.

MGP have teamed up with the beautiful Carr Farm Garden Centre to host this wonderful event. They will be holding a Christmas tree light up to honour those we have lost, and we invite all our supporters to come together to celebrate the lives of loved ones during this festive period.

Jessica Gallier, CEO of The Martin Gallier Project said “I am so glad that we are able to host this beautiful event for a second year as it means so much to so many. Christmas time is a particularly difficult time for those of us bereaved by suicide. A time during which we feel our loss profoundly. Whilst we can't take that pain away, we can stand alongside one another and feel supported in our grief.

“Last year people came from far and wide to remember those they had lost to suicide, support one another through the festive period and find hope for the year ahead. We really hope you can join us again this Christmas."

Carr Farm spokesperson Catherine said “We're so excited to be hosting The Martin Gallier Project with their Forget Me Not Christmas campaign. After last year’s success we are really hoping the public will come and show their support once again as we join families and friends affected by suicide.

This event is about remembrance, healing and support, but most importantly is a celebration of their commitment to provide lifesaving interventions. We hope to see you all there.”

A Forget Me Not Christmas, inspired by bereaved by suicide support group, Forget Me Not, offers a festive and joyful opportunity to reminisce those who are no longer with us. The event is completely free to attend however you can sponsor a light this Christmas at a minimum donation of £5. It costs an average of £80 to save a life, and all funds raised will be used to fund lifesaving suicide interventions at MGP.

The event will start from 5.30pm at Carr Farm Garden Centre, Meols, with a visit from Santa, festive stalls, Tranmere Rovers manager Nigel Adkins, local singer Libby Crombie and dance troop 'Intensity Dance Company'.
