Tranmere Rovers midfielder Brad Walker has been named as our Player Advocate for the #HerGameToo campaign ahead of International Women’s Day 2023.
By working closely with the #HerGameToo campaign, Brad hopes to send a message to all women thinking of coming to a match that we are committed to ensuring Prenton Park is a safe and welcoming environment for all supporters.
The 26-year-old joins the #HerGameToo team working alongside Club #HerGameToo Ambassadors Hannah Naylor and Phil Bryan to help promote the campaign.
Brad has spoken to us about his excitement on joining the campaign, highlighting how far the women’s game has come in recent years and how he can use his role to help support #HerGameToo.
Brad said, “I think it’s a massive chance to get involved in the campaign and promote it.
“I think the women’s game is at a really good stage now, the way it’s developing. To help promote it and play my part is massive.
“The platform I’ve got, being a professional footballer, I can help many young kids, men or women, to join the game and hopefully my messages can be heard loud and clear so plenty more young women can join the game.”
Brad has two daughters of his own as well as a little boy, and hopes he can inspire them too. “My two daughters come and watch me every Saturday and my little lad plays as well, so hopefully they can take a big step and join them.”
Brad has also offered advice to any young women getting into the game. “Follow your dreams and work hard, and if you stick to the principles of what you know, that’s the best advice I can give.”
