Hendry looking forward to Stevenage challenge

24 February 2023

Midfielder Regan Hendry is looking forward to the challenge facing Tranmere Rovers on Saturday when Micky Mellon’s men visit promotion-chasing Stevenage in Sky Bet League Two.

Rovers will be aiming to return to winning ways in Hertfordshire away at Steve Evans’ second-placed outfit.

Hendry, who signed on loan from Forest Green Rovers in the January transfer window, believes three points this weekend can be a turning point in TRFC’s season.

Speaking to the local press as he previewed the fixture, Hendry said: “You just need to put a good run of wins together in this league, it’s easier said than done, and what better game to do it against Stevenage to kick us on, there’s a lot of points to play for and we can start playing without that pressure, so we are looking forward to the challenge of getting three points.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league, it’s a difficult situation that we are in but it’s up to us to grind it out and pick up some points.

“We train well all week, we’ve not been good enough and we have to put it right, it’s down to us to go there this weekend, they are doing well and I’m looking forward to it, it’s a big game for us.

“We need to show a reaction and it’s a big game to do it.

“A result beating Stevenage would kick us on, against a team who are second in the league, and I’m looking forward to it.

“We’ve reviewed the last few games and every player who played in those games will say it’s not been good enough, from us individually and as a team, so it’s up to us to players like me and the other boys to create chances, so once it starts clicking hopefully we can go on a run.

“It’s up to us to put it right as no-one else is going to do that, it’s a challenge right now and I’m looking forward to the challenge as there’s pressure on us to perform well, and I like that pressure myself and we have a good team with good players who all want to succeed

“I feel that I owe the gaffer some good performances and I put pressure on myself to do well for him, the boys and the club, so it’s up to us to go out there on Saturday and do it.”
