Tranmere Rovers Women secure a place in the Quarter Final of the Argyle Sports Kit Plater after an emphatic 7-0 win.
A hat trick from Izzie Arrowsmith and goals from Lindsey Smith, Ellie Doyle, Amy Shannon and Katie Bowers Folan sealed the win for Rovers on Sunday afternoon.
It was a slow start to the game with Tranmere not converting their few chances.
An injury to the visitors’ goalkeeper meant that centre half, Chloe Starling, had to step in leaving just nine outfield players.
Rovers took advantage of being a player up and it didn’t take long to break the deadlock after Ellie Doyle converts her penalty after being bought down in the box.
Moments later, Tranmere double their lead through Captain Lindsey Smith, who heads home an Amy Shannon corner.
The girls got off to an electric start to the second half scoring three goals in the opening give minutes.
Izzie Arrowsmith got us started after she won the ball from 18 yards and smashes the ball into the back of the net.
Arrowsmith quickly got her second as she drove up the field and slotted past the keeper to give Rovers a four goal lead.
Just minutes later, Amy Shannon danced through the back line and sliced the ball across the goal and into the back of the net.
Rovers never took their foot off the gas and continued to press high up the field as Development Team graduate, Izzie Arrowsmith gets her third of the game and Tranmere’s sixth.
Rounding off the afternoon was Katie Bowers Folan who picked up the ball from McRoberts, ran down the left, flicked the ball passed her man and slices the ball passed the keeper.
An impressive afternoon by the Rovers girls as they secured their spot in the Quarter Final of the Argyle Sports Kit Plate.
