Chalmers 'buzzing' to be at Prenton Park

18 January 2023

New signing Logan Chalmers took time out of his week to speak to the local press about his move to Prenton Park.

Chalmers, 22, put pen to paper on a loan deal from Dundee United on Monday afternoon, after a successful loan spell at Ayr in the first half of this campaign.

“I’m buzzing to get the deal done. I came here last night, and I can’t wait to get started.”

“The move came about from a phone call initially, from my agent, saying that there was interest - but when I heard of the plans, I wanted to get it done straight away.

“I’ve always wanted to come down to England and to play my football down here. When I heard of the opportunity here at Tranmere, I wanted to get it done straight away.

“Over the past few years, I’ve always wanted to play down here, and I just can’t wait to get on the pitch.

“I’ve worked with the manager before at Dundee United, and he knows my game, but I’m delighted to come down and work with him again.”

“I like to get at people and create goals, as well as scoring goals – so from the wide positions I’m hoping to score some goals and get some assists too – along with exciting fans and getting them off their seats.

“It’s around 5 points now from those play-off positions, so with half of the season to go, we want to get to the play-offs.

“I know Reece [McAlear] from Scotland, so I saw it’s quite a young squad and one which gives players opportunities, which persuaded me to move down here.

“Today is my first day, but all of the lads have been great and helped me to settle in. Over the next few weeks, I’m sure I’ll meet all the lads and get to know them well.

“My personal targets is to add as many goals and assists as possible to my game, and to help the team to get to where we want to be.

“I want to get straight in, so I hope to get in and play as soon as possible.”
