After agreeing to join the Club on Thursday, new signing Brad Walker spoke about his delight at arriving at Prenton Park and gave his overall thoughts on the move.
The 26-year-old midfielder signed a two-and-a-half-year deal to secure a move to the Wirral, after spending the last two years playing at Port Vale.
“I was speaking to the gaffer and speaking to [Joe] Murphy, as I’ve played with him before, and I was really impressed with what the manager had to say, and it really excited me.
“I know how much of a big football club Tranmere is. I obviously played here last year with Port Vale and the atmosphere was unbelievable, and I am really excited to come and be a part of it.
“The Management Team liked how I play the game, and the way that they came across to explain how they wanted to play the game suited me down to the ground. I’m really happy to come here.
“It’s a very tough league, and obviously I got promoted with Port Vale last year via the play-offs, and hopefully we can get a string of wins together and fly up the table.
“Like what happened with me last season – a good run of games and a good run of results can put you from 14th to 6th within a couple of wins, so if you get good momentum going and carry on to the end of the season then who knows where it can take you.
“I settled straight in with the lads very well, they were all very welcoming, so hopefully we can progress together.”
Walker spoke about his best attributes ahead of putting on a white shirt and detailed what Tranmere fans should be excited about ahead of his first match.
“I feel like I have got a very good range of passing, in and around with the lads, and hopefully some good tackling and playing in the midfield.”
“It’s also a bit of security for me and my family, and I’m hoping to get two and a half years out of a massive football club like this, so hopefully we can climb up the league. I just want to hit the ground running, play games and win games.”
“You want to play in the big games with the big crowds and hopefully they can support us as much as we repay them and try to get wins on the board. I can’t wait to get out there and show them what I can do.”
