Tranmere Rovers manager Ian Dawes was pleased with his team's performance, as they drew 1-1 with League One side Wigan Athletic at Prenton Park.
“It was a really good exercise, we knew we had to be disciplined in our shape, which we did well. The challenge now is to keep moving and improving every week.
“Harvey [Saunders] will always get you goals because he’s got that hunger and determination to run, work and score, that’s what he lives for.
“We’ve got players returning, Luke [Norris] and Kristian [Dennis] are desperate to play but they’re at that point where we have to hold them back because they’re going to be such important players for us. We’re going to have a game between ourselves on Tuesday for some of the players that need topping up. The ones that have been playing look ready to go, there’s just a couple that need that extra time.
“We’re still looking to upgrade with one or two, we’re in a place where we’re adding quality rather than quantity, we’ve got a good group and we’re ready to go.
“There are always things ongoing, the Premier League clubs start late so that delays a few things but we’re always looking.
“Training never changes for me; it’s always preparing for the next game. Next week will be good, the lads will do a recovery session tomorrow, Sunday off, go again Monday and a really good full week of training because we haven’t played on a Saturday.
