Tranmere Rovers manager Ian Dawes was impressed with his side's fitness levels in their 1-1 pre-season draw with an Everton XI at Prenton Park.
"I thought it was a really good exercise. We're getting that little bit closer to the Barrow game now, so it's about getting ready for Barrow," the manager said.
"Going into the game, it was so important that we got our defensive organisation and attacking patterns in and we wanted to win the game because we've got to get used to winning games of football now.
"After 75 minutes I thought we did that outstandingly well, the only times they threatened, once or twice in the first half with some really good bits of play, but I thought the shape was really good, and in the second half they had some opportunities but only from our turnovers."
