Tranmere Rovers are delighted to announce the return of Connor Jennings to the Club on a one-year contract.
Jennings needs no introduction to Rovers fans after a thrilling first spell at the Club between 2016 and 2020, scoring the winning goal at Wembley in the 2019 League Two play-off final against Newport County as well as providing the cross for James Norwood to nod in for the winner in the National League play-off final in 2018, and scoring a stunning goal from distance in the 2017 National League play-off final.
Across 171 appearances during his first spell at the Club, Connor established himself as a modern-day hero for Rovers with some unforgettable moments.
Connor spent three years with Stockport County after his last spell at Prenton Park, and following a short spell with Hartlepool United, Connor returns to Tranmere this summer. We would like to offer him the warmest welcome home.
First Team Manager Ian Dawes said: “Connor is someone I'm delighted to see back at Tranmere for a variety of reasons. Throughout his career, he has always contributed goals to his teams, and is a great character to have both in the dressing room and on the pitch.
“He thrives on pressure, with a ’big match’ mentality that enables him to pull success out of the bag when it matters - as the SWA well know through his heroic antics at Wembley two years in a row. That experience of how to cope with the pressure of a big match will be something he can hopefully impart to the younger team members."
Technical Director Nigel Adkins said: “The key challenge for us this year in recruitment is to get balance - an exciting young squad of players with lots of potential, but an experienced spine for them to learn from. Connor brings some of this balance to the squad, as well as a mental resilience and focus that has seen him overcome serious illness to return to peak fitness."
Connor added: “I'm thrilled to be home. It’s so surreal being back, but something that I’m really looking forward to.
I’m looking forward to a fresh start, it was a no-brainer really."
