Goalkeeper Luke McGee signs for Rovers on one-year contract

30 June 2023

Tranmere Rovers are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Luke McGee on a one-year contract.

The 27-year-old came through the youth system at Tottenham Hotspur, and most recently played for Forest Green Rovers where he made 110 appearances since joining in 2020.

Luke has made 214 career appearances in total so far including spells with Peterborough United, Portsmouth and Bradford City.

The six-foot-four stopper was part of the League Two-winning Forest Green side in 2021-22, and his signing means all five of Rovers’ senior summer signings so far have experienced promotion from the division in the last four years.

First Team Manager Ian Dawes said: "We're very happy to get Luke's signing over the line as we have been looking for an experienced goalkeeper who will be vocal and play a key part in organising his back line, and Luke is a great example of that with experience of getting promoted from this league."

On joining Rovers, Luke commented: “I'm over the moon to get it done. I'm just ready to hit the ground running on Monday and get started.

"The gaffer rang me last week, we were on the phone for a good while and he just explained his philosophy, his plans moving forward, and it went exactly hand in hand with how I want to do it. It was a perfect one for me."
